Woman hides crystal meth in empty Nivea tin

A woman who used to hide her drugs in a Nivea cream container has appeared in court.

Samantha Mukoko, 22, who resides in Strathaven Free Zone Squatter Camp, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing charges of unlawful possession of drugs.

The State, through Grace Mugocheke alleges that on July 31, 2023 at around 1600 hours, the police were informed that Mukoko was dealing in crystal meth at Strathaven Squatter camp, Strathaven in Harare.

On the same date at around 1630 hours, the police went to the place and did surveillance on the alleged house and observed abusers visiting the place repeatedly.

They went to Mukoko who was in her room and interviewed her.

She told them that she was staying alone and they then requested to search the room and she agreed.

The search led to the recovery and seizure of 9 sachets of drugs which were hidden in an empty blue Nivea cream metal tin.

The blue metal tin was hidden in an empty 10-litre metal tin placed in the corner of the room.

Mukoko was subsequently escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics for further management.

A field test on the seized drugs was done in the presence of Mukoko and it tested positive to crystal meth.

It was weighed and recorded approximately 2 grammes with an estimated street value of ZWL$120 000.

Mukoko was remanded in custody.
