Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has announced that the government will no longer release funds for procurement conducted outside the newly launched electronic Government Procurement (eGP) System. The eGP System, managed by the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Praz), is a secure web-based platform designed to streamline and enhance transparency in government procurement.
Speaking at the Praz annual conference in Victoria Falls, Chiwenga emphasized the importance of full compliance with the eGP System. He urged all government departments to upload their annual procurement plans to the system and highlighted the benefits of using the platform, including increased efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency.
The Vice President also stressed the need for Zimbabwe to embrace the African Continental Free Trade Area as a means to elevate local industries and accelerate economic growth. He emphasized the country's strategic geographic location and the importance of rehabilitating its infrastructure to facilitate trade and logistics within the region.
