AbyChrist, a powerful name in Zimbabwe's gospel music scene, is much more than a gifted singer—she is a passionate worshipper, wholeheartedly dedicated to serving God through every note of her music.
"My name is AbyChrist, a true worshipper who worships her Father in heaven," she says with conviction. AbyChrist is a member of True Worship, a collective she describes as "a team of anointed individuals critically chosen by the Holy Spirit, who underwent rigorous training to embody what it means to be a True Worshipper—one whose worship is loved and accepted by God."
Her journey from singing in local church choirs to becoming a well-known gospel artist has been deeply influenced by divine inspiration and transformative experiences.
"The Holy Spirit inspired me. He orchestrated everything from the beginning," AbyChrist shares, reflecting on the path that brought her to where she is today. She recalls how her love for worship blossomed in school choirs and her grandmother’s church, where she developed a deep and enduring connection to God.
A turning point in her ministry came when she joined Christ Embassy, where she was introduced to renowned artists like Sinach, Eben, and Frank Edwards. Their passion for worship stirred something fresh within her. "Their fervor for worship ignited a new, unique birthing in me," AbyChrist says.
AbyChrist's first song, Great Rain, came to life during this period of spiritual awakening. It was followed by "I Testify," a song inspired by Sinach’s Abba Father.
"I found myself in tears when I went home at midnight; I woke my sister up, and suddenly, the story of my life was captured in that verse," she recalls.
AbyChrist does not limit herself to a single style. "I do not have a particular style; I sing and worship as I am led by the Holy Spirit, and that’s what sets us apart," she explains. Her music encompasses a rich blend of reggae, R&B, African rhythms, and worship, reflecting her diverse spiritual influences. "That has always been me, but I was not fully aware until I came to the full knowledge of where I operate from now," she adds.
Her music ministry thrives on collaboration, with producers, songwriters, and fellow artists sharing the same spiritual vision. AbyChrist credits producer McDee Chidavaenzi for his instrumental role in the success of her early songs, including Great Rain and More Grace. She also highlights the valuable contributions of musicians like God’s Gift and Mirinda Chidochashe, whose collaboration enriched her most recent projects. "This song became a beautiful masterpiece, capturing life’s ups and downs and offering encouragement that better days are always ahead—if you don’t give up," she reflects.
Scripture is foundational to AbyChrist’s life and ministry. Among her favorite verses are Romans 13:8, "Owe nothing to anyone except for your obligation to love another," and John 4:23-24, which speaks to the essence of worshiping in spirit and truth. These scriptures continue to guide her as she strives to lead by example, particularly for women.
"All women must walk with and after the Holy Spirit," she encourages, emphasizing the powerful role women play as "multipliers of every vision given to a man by God."
AbyChrist is also excited about upcoming projects with True Worship. Their latest endeavor, Songs of the End Time, will be featured in a documentary-style release titled When Christ Comes.
"This project was suggested by Kudzi because of its depth and relevance," she explains. The group also holds worship sessions at Harare Gardens every Tuesday, strengthening their devotion to the work of the Holy Spirit.
Her message to believers is both simple and profound: "Be born again and, if you are, learn to walk with and after the Holy Spirit.
Rely solely on Him, study the Word, pray at all times, and nurture your gift. As challenging as the journey may be, remember that better days lie ahead—just make sure Jesus is with you, especially in the fire."
