A Zimbabwean national, Lovemore Sithole, 37, has been sentenced to death in Botswana after being convicted of selling his 6-year-old stepson to ritualists for US$15,000 (approximately 200,000 Botswana Pula).

The crime came to light a month later when the boy's skull was discovered, and DNA tests confirmed the identity. The identification of the child’s remains has left both communities in disbelief, with many unable to comprehend the unimaginable cruelty of the act.

Sithole was quickly apprehended after the discovery of the boy’s skull, and investigations revealed that he had orchestrated the sale of his stepson to ritualists. His actions have ignited outrage, with both Zimbabwe and Botswana condemning him in the strongest terms.

The tragic loss has deeply affected citizens in both nations, with a mixture of anger and sorrow felt over the death of the innocent child. The case has sparked widespread public outrage and renewed discussions about the growing threat of human trafficking and ritual killings in the region.
