The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Zvimba has arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with two cases of stock theft in which eight head of cattle were stolen from Farm 79, Zowa while another eight were stolen from Mhungu Village.

In a statement, ZRP said they arrested Criswell Maponga through a tip-off and the arrest has led to the recovery of 15 stolen head of cattle.

Recently, a headman in Mudzi, a teacher and their accomplice were in trouble after they allegedly hired a self-proclaimed prophet to cleanse the home of a senior citizen before stealing seven head of cattle from him as payment to the prophet.

The trio appeared before Mutoko magistrate Rumbidzai Mhandu and were granted $30 000 bail each.

In June this year, the government launched the cattle branding programme that gives cattle unique identity, hence reducing cases of stock theft.
