Brighton Ndihana, a 45-year-old resident of Chitungwiza, has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery involving US$120 000 and 500 grams of gold.
Ndihana appeared before Magistrate Taurai Manuwere at the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing charges of armed robbery. He was remanded in custody to January 28, 2025.
According to the State's case, presented by prosecutor Tawanda Nyandoro, the incident occurred on December 6, 2024, at around 8:50 PM. Ndihana, along with accomplices Silvanos Sithole, Lloyd Mushunje, and Ranganai Mushohwe—who are already on remand—and others still at large, reportedly scaled a precast wall to gain access to the complainant Chen Hai Tian’s premises.
Two of the accused, armed with unidentified pistols, allegedly overpowered security guard Vhukile Dhlakama and forced him into an office where the complainant was present. The gang reportedly manhandled everyone on-site and compelled the complainant to unlock a safe, stealing US$120 000 and gold worth approximately US$40 000.
The matter was reported to ZRP Five Avenue, leading to Ndihana's arrest on January 9, 2025. The stolen items, valued at a total of US$160 000, have not yet been recovered.
