Masvingo Regional Magistrate Court has handed down heavy sentences to three armed robbers following their conviction for a series of robberies committed earlier this month.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrests and convictions, expressing gratitude to the public and judiciary for their cooperation in the case.
The trio, identified as Clever Svuure, 28, Vusumuzi Bhebhe, 25, and Yasin Joseph, 21, were arrested on January 15, 2025, after being linked to a spate of armed robberies in Masvingo.
Acting on intelligence, police recovered stolen property, including a Mazda Axela vehicle with registration number AEQ 0533, various cellphones, groceries, solar panels, and other household items.
Police investigations connected the trio to at least 14 armed robberies carried out on the night of January 15, 2025.
One of the incidents occurred at 0035 hours at a residence in Clipsham View, Masvingo, where the suspects stole USD 20, cash, a laptop, three cellphones, and the Mazda Axela vehicle.
A second robbery, which took place at 0350 hours in Victoria Range, saw the attackers using a machete to threaten their victim before stealing cellphones, cash, and other valuables.
On January 22, 2025, the court sentenced Clever Svuure to 95 years in prison, while his accomplices, Vusumuzi Bhebhe and Yasin Joseph, each received 125 years.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Nyathi reiterated the importance of public cooperation in ensuring justice and maintaining community safety.
