Admire Ngoshi, 38, from Budiriro 5B, Harare, has appeared in court accused of participating in a fatal assault of the man who had been allegedly beating up Ngoshi's sister in her own bedroom.
Ngoshi who was charged with murder at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts was granted US$50 bail.
The State alleges that on January 10, 2024, around, Ngoshi responded to cries for help from his sister, Tinevimbo Garanewako, coming from her bedroom. Upon entering, he saw a man strangling her.
The intruder fled through the window, prompting Ngoshi to give chase. After catching up with the man, who identified himself as Garanewako's boyfriend, Ngoshi and others began assaulting him.
Witnesses stated that a mob of about 50 people, including Ngoshi and two accomplices identified as Sean and Munyaradzi, continued the assault using whips and logs, even after the man was subdued.
The victim was eventually taken to Gunguwo Street in Budiriro, where the mob allegedly beat him until he lost consciousness. The man was later found dead, and a report was made to the police.
Detectives from CID Homicide arrested Ngoshi on January 19, 2025, following witness accounts. Investigations are ongoing as some accomplices remain at large.
Ngoshi is expected back in court as the case continues.
