Two men have been taken to court facing murder allegations after allegedly assaulting a man they accused of theft, leading to his death.
Misheck Dunduru, 24 and Takunda John, 22, appeared before magistrate Isheunesu Matova on murder charges.
They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
They will appear in court to court on March 19, 2025 .
The State, through Rufaro Chonzi, told the court that the incident occurred on February 13, 2025, at around 9pm along Rusitu Street in New Mabvuku, Harare.
It is alleged that Dunduru confronted Govhati, accusing him of robbing Dunduru's brother and demanding the return of stolen property.
Dunduru began assaulting Govhati with a wooden stick, striking him repeatedly.
John, who had reportedly quarrelled with Govhati earlier that day, allegedly joined in, intensifying the attack by using stones and a hockey stick to beat the victim.
Govhati was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries the following day on February 14, 2025.
