A Mother in Danger From Her Own Son

Runodada Witness – Zim Now Reporter

Jenet Chitendeni has taken legal action against her son, Ngonidzashe Chitendeni, seeking protection from his alleged violent and abusive behavior. The matter was brought before the civil court, where Jenet pleaded for an order preventing her son from returning home.

In her testimony, Jenet claimed that Ngonidzashe frequently insults and physically assaults her. She recounted a recent incident in which he allegedly struck her on the head.

She also told the court that her son constantly reminds her that their home belongs to his late father, not to her.

Jenet further alleged that Ngonidzashe has threatened her with weapons, making her fear for her safety.

However, since Ngonidzashe was in police custody and not present in court, the judge ruled that an outright protection order barring him from returning home could not be granted.

The court reasoned that issuing such an order could lead to potential misuse. Instead, a peace order was granted, instructing Ngonidzashe to refrain from insulting, threatening, or harming his mother upon his release.
