After a period of uncertainty and scrutiny, Eltah Nengomasha, Director General of the Sports and Recreation Commission  has been fully reinstated following her suspension in October of last year. The SRC announced the lifting of her suspension on Thursday, confirming that she had been cleared of all allegations of misconduct.

The details surrounding Nengomasha's suspension were not publicly disclosed at the time, leading to speculation and concern within the Zimbabwean sporting community. However, the SRC maintained that the suspension was necessary while a thorough investigation was conducted.

Following her suspension, a disciplinary hearing was convened before an Independent Tribunal. This three-member tribunal meticulously reviewed the allegations against Nengomasha. After a thorough examination of the evidence, the tribunal delivered a twenty-one-page determination on March 11, 2025, acquitting and clearing the Director General of any wrongdoing.

The SRC's official statement confirmed the outcome of the hearing. "Please take note that following the suspension of the Director General of the SRC on the 31st of October 2024, a disciplinary hearing was subsequently held before an Independent Tribunal. In its twenty-one page determination of 1 1h March, 2025, the three member Tribunal acquitted and cleared the Director General of any wrongdoing."

With her name cleared, Nengomasha is set to resume her duties with the full confidence and support of the SRC Board. "Effectively, the suspension against the Director General is lifted, and she will resume normal duties, including the restructuring of the SRC’s human resources, with the full confidence and support of the Board," the statement concluded.
