A man who allegedly shot his daughter after an altercation at her boyfriend's home over the relationship has appeared before the court.
Darlington Murape, 47, of Mufakose, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder.
He is set to appear in court again on April 30, 2025.
The complainant in this case is Charlen Murape.
The State alleges that on March 19, 2024, at around 3:00 p.m., Murape, who is the biological father of the complainant, armed himself with a Cz service pistol (serial number ZA-0538).
The court heard that he then went to the home of the complainant’s boyfriend, Tapiwa Chikanyanza, to discuss the relationship between the two. Murape reportedly felt that his daughter's boyfriend was disturbing her, as she is still in school.
The discussion allegedly did not go well with Chikanyanza, who fled the scene, leaving Murape and his daughter standing at the gate.
Murape reportedly withdrew his service pistol, cocked it, and then shot the complainant in the left thigh.
She was rushed to the hospital, where she received treatment and was later discharged.
