Chitungwiza Woman's one night stand lover turns into a stalker from hell

A Chitungwiza woman successfully sought a protection order against a client-turned-stalker, accusing him of harassment and disrupting her business.

Vimbai Chikanya, 30, told the Harare Civil Court that Tembo Dema became obsessed with her after a one-night stand, frequently visiting her home uninvited and causing disturbances.

“The problem started when he fell in love with me. He visits my home constantly and shouts at me when I refuse to talk to him,” she said.

She alleged that Dema insults her customers, sometimes chasing them away while claiming to be her husband.

“My business is now unstable because of him. I don’t want him near my house or workplace. He assaults me in public and even touches me inappropriately,” she added.

Chikanya emphasized that she had no interest in a relationship, saying, “I want to continue with my job because it gives me money. I am not looking to marry anyone anytime soon.”

In response, Dema denied assaulting her but admitted to insulting her after seeing her with another man.

“I loved this woman, but I only wanted her to stop prostitution. She is lying about the assault. I only got angry when I saw her kissing another man in front of my mother. If she wants me to stay away, I have no problem with that,” he said.

Magistrate Ms. Meenal Naratam granted the protection order, barring Dema from visiting Chikanya’s residence or insulting her in public.
