If you have been calling US president Donald Trump crazy for saying there are only two genders on official documents, you might want to reconsider.

In a move that sounds more like satire than serious policy, a toddler—yes, a three or four-year-old child—was reportedly suspended from nursery for alleged “abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity.”

Let that sink in. A toddler. A child barely out of nappies. A child who, statistically speaking, is more likely to understand ice cream flavors than the nuances of gender identity politics. And yet, according to data from the Department for Education (DfE), this infant was effectively booted from their nursery for what can only be described as “wrongthink.”

This isn’t a one-off incident. The same data reveals that in the 2022-23 academic year, 94 primary school pupils were either suspended or permanently excluded for so-called “transphobia” or “homophobia.” That number includes ten Year One children (five and six-year-olds) and three Year Two pupils (six and seven-year-olds).

Yes, Britain is now at a point where schools are meting out formal punishments to children barely old enough to tie their shoelaces for expecting men to be men and women to be, well, women.

Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at Sex Matters, put it best when she said:

“Every once in a while, the extremes of gender ideology throw up a story that seems too crazy to believe, and a toddler being suspended from nursery for so-called ‘transphobia’ or homophobia is one such example. Worse still, this is not an isolated case.”

But this isn’t just about an overzealous school policy. This is about an entire system that has lost all sense of proportion. We are now in a world where schools—not just fringe activists, but schools—are actively punishing children for failing to conform to a radical ideology.

And what does that mean in practice? A three-year-old refers to another child as “he” instead of “they.” Expulsion. A five-year-old repeats something they heard at home that doesn’t align with gender theory? Suspension.

This is more than just overreach—it’s an abandonment of common sense. Young children learn through play, exploration, and sometimes saying things that don’t make sense. That’s part of growing up. But in modern Britain, even toddlers are now at risk of being branded bigots before they’ve mastered the alphabet.

What's next? Thought policing in the maternity ward? Sensitivity training for newborns? A tribunal for toddlers who pick the “wrong” color toy?

Lord Young, director of the Free Speech Union, hit the nail on the head:

“It beggars belief that schools are suspending children as young as five for breaching their ‘transphobia’ policy. I would have thought that if your ideology is so rigid it justifies you punishing toddlers for not complying with it, that’s a powerful argument for discarding it in favor of something less dogmatic.”

The most disturbing aspect of this story isn’t the absurdity itself—it’s the fact that grown adults in positions of power are actively enforcing these punishments. These are teachers, school administrators, and policymakers who should know better. Instead, they are sacrificing children’s education and well-being to placate a movement that demands absolute ideological submission—even from toddlers.

A society that punishes young children for failing to conform to adult political dogmas is a society that has lost its way. The UK’s education system was once about literacy, numeracy, and preparing children for the future. Now, it seems, its primary concern is ideological indoctrination—starting before kids can even read.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are right. The UK needs an overhaul, and maybe they should be looking at colonizing it instead of Canada and Greenland. After all, that would be divine justice, seeing as America was once a British colony.
