A 33-year-old man linked to a robbery incident in which a getaway car was captured on camera by members of the public has appeared in court.

Sean Mukungwa appeared before Harare magistrate Mazhande facing robbery charges and was remanded in custody to April 15, 2025.

According to the State, the complainant, Marshal Mauriso, was at his workplace on January 15 around 4:15 PM when Mukungwa and his accomplices—who are already on remand—arrived in a silver Toyota Sienta without registration plates.

The accused, armed with two unidentified pistols, allegedly stormed the premises, threatened to shoot Mauriso, and stole US$533 and a Samsung A13 cellphone before fleeing in their vehicle.

The getaway was captured on video by members of the public, footage that later aided investigations.

Detectives from CID Homicide in Harare tracked down Mukungwa’s accomplices, leading to the recovery of two firearms and the vehicle used during the crime.

Mukungwa was later arrested on April 2, 2025, in connection with other unrelated offenses.
