A 26-year-old man was arrested in Harare after he and two accomplices allegedly robbed two pedestrians at gunpoint in the city centre.

Courage Nyambera, of Matapi in Mbare, is accused of attacking Pilate Mhaka ,24, and Obrien Malunga ,23, at the corner of Jason Moyo Avenue and Mbuya Nehanda Street on April 7, 2025.

The trio, reportedly armed with a pistol, a knife, and an electric shocker, ordered the victims to lie down before robbing them of cash, phones, bags, and clothing.

Mhaka lost a wallet containing US$140, a pair of shoes, spectacles, and a small bag. Malunga was stripped of his phone, a bag, and a wallet with US$180.

The suspects fled, but the victims quickly alerted police officers on patrol, who pursued the gang. Nyambera was caught still carrying one of the stolen items — a pair of the victim’s shoes.

His accomplices remain at large.
