American R&B singer Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court after being charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with an alleged nightclub assault that took place in 2023.
The 36-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist is accused of attacking a music producer with a tequila bottle during a night out. Authorities have described the alleged assault as unprovoked. Brown, who was arrested last week, did not attend the bail hearing in person, which was held on Wednesday at Southwark Crown Court.
During the proceedings, the court imposed a £5 million security fee as part of the bail conditions. The financial requirement is intended to ensure the singer complies with all court obligations, with the possibility of forfeiture should he breach any of the terms.
While Brown has not yet entered a formal plea, the court has permitted him to proceed with his upcoming world tour, which is scheduled to kick off next month.
