Two flagship branches of Food Lovers Market in Borrowdale and Avondale are set to shut their doors this month, the company announced today, ending years of service to customers in two of Harare’s busiest suburbs.
In a public statement released on Wednesday, the retailer confirmed that the Borrowdale store will close on June 8, 2025 followed by Avondale on June 22, 2025.
The announcement was met with an outpouring of appreciation and nostalgia across social media, where loyal customers described the outlets as community anchors known for fresh produce, gourmet groceries, and a vibrant in-store experience.
“As a token of our appreciation, we’ll be offering daily, wonderful in-store specials right up to our final day of trading,” said the Borrowdale branch. “Thank you for your generous support.”
The Avondale team expressed similar sentiments “To our beloved Avondale community, a heartfelt thank you for your loyalty over the years. We’ll be celebrating the years we’ve spent together with exciting daily specials until our final trading day.”
No official comment had been issued regarding whether new outlets will be opened elsewhere or if the closures signal a strategic shift for the chain.
