Oscar J Jeke - Zim Now Reporter

Zimbabwe has recorded a step in its digital transformation drive following the release of the Zimbabwe Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Report, a diagnostic evaluation of the country's preparedness to ethically and effectively deploy AI technologies.

The report was tabled presented by Information minister, Jenfan Muswere during the post-Cabinet press briefing in Harare on Tuesday, reflects Zimbabwe’s commitment to harnessing AI for socio-economic development. The assessment was conducted under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which selected Zimbabwe among six African countries to pilot the deployment of its global Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

Zimbabwe adopted the UNESCO Recommendation in November 2021, aligning itself with internationally agreed principles aimed at ensuring that AI serves humanity while safeguarding citizens from associated risks.
