Sekunjalo MaAfrica Arts, the reigning 2023 national champions of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival, have once again secured their spot in the national finals. Their electrifying performance at the Bulawayo provincial competition captivated audiences and judges alike, cementing their status as strong contenders for a second national title.
The dynamic ensemble, who were also runners-up in 2016, delivered a high-energy rendition of the Umzansi dance. Their captivating presentation set them apart from the competition, earning them the top spot and the right to represent Bulawayo at this year's national showdown. For their impressive victory, Sekunjalo MaAfrica was awarded a prize of $2,500.
The competition saw other talented groups vie for a spot at the national event. Isizwe Sabatha claimed a well-deserved second place with their expressive Wosana dance, taking home $1,500. Bambanani Dance Group secured third place, earning a $1,000 reward for their performance.
With the Bulawayo provincial competition concluded, all eyes now turn to the final provincial showdown scheduled for this Saturday in Mashonaland Central. Following that, the stage will be set for the highly anticipated national finals on July 19 in Mutare
