What began as trust has spiraled into scandal at Trinity Pharmacy, where a former Human Resources and Administration Officer allegedly siphoned fuel and airtime worth more than US$55 000 and ZiG$26,947.36 over a two-year stretch.

Mutsikwa Mudzimba ,44, of Meadow Crescent, Hatfield, Harare, is accused of turning company resources into his personal lifeline, bleeding the pharmacy dry litre by litre and recharge by recharge.

According to the State, represented by prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu, Mudzimba was entrusted with the company’s e-fuel cards between January 1, 2023, and June 20, 2025.

Instead of fulfilling his duties, he allegedly diverted them to bankroll his own lifestyle.

The audit trail paints a staggering picture: 13,860 litres of petrol worth US$20,790.90, 23,060 litres of diesel valued at US$34,591.17, and airtime worth ZIG26,947.36 — all allegedly consumed under the radar.

Trinity Pharmacy’s internal auditor, Nobert Nyahwema ,40, sounded the alarm after a forensic audit revealed the bleeding accounts. The findings led to Mudzimba’s arrest.

With a total prejudice of US$55 382.07 and ZiG$26,947.36, and nothing recovered, the case has left the company shaken.

Mudzimba was remanded in custody and is set to appear again on October 7, 2025.
