A Croco Motors supervisor has appeared in court facing allegations of defrauding the company of 5,900 litres of fuel.
Gutsikayi Mudowaya, 39, was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates' Courts on fraud charges. He was granted US$50 bail and remanded out of custody to March 6, 2025.
The complainant in the case is Croco Motors, represented by Tariro Mtemachani.
According to the State, Mudowaya, who was responsible for reconciling daily bulk fuel sales, allegedly manipulated transaction data from the Pinnacle DMS and the Redan Reporting System (FileMaker) in December 2024.
It is alleged that on January 16, 2025, an audit of the December 2024 entries in FileMaker and Pinnacle revealed discrepancies—2,934 litres of diesel and 3,019 litres of blend petrol were unaccounted for.
Further investigations showed that transaction logs linked the fraudulent activity to Mudowaya.
A review of records indicated that Mudowaya had undervalued fuel sales by 5,952 litres, causing a financial loss of US$8,985 to Croco Motors.
The State alleges that nothing was recovered.
