SRC Director General Eltah Nengomasha Resigns After Three Years at the Helm

The Sports and Recreation Commission has announced the resignation of its Director General, Ms. Eltah Nengomasha, who officially concluded her tenure with the Commission today, following a resignation notice tendered three months ago.

In a statement released on Friday, the SRC Board expressed gratitude to Nengomasha for her leadership, noting her contributions to strengthening governance structures and fostering stakeholder engagement across Zimbabwe’s sporting sector.

“The SRC Board extends its appreciation to Ms. Nengomasha for her service and contributions during her time in office, particularly in strengthening governance structures and stakeholder engagement across the sporting sector,” the statement read.

To ensure continuity, the Board has appointed Mr. Peter Mudzimiri, Director of Legal and Corporate Services, as Acting Director General with immediate effect. The process of appointing a substantive Director General has begun, with an announcement expected in due course.

The SRC reassured stakeholders of its continued commitment to promoting and regulating sport and recreation in Zimbabwe.

Ms. Nengomasha leaves the role after spearheading reforms aimed at enhancing accountability and transparency in sports administration.

The Board of Commissioners, chaired by Dr. Nathaniel Madzivanyika, emphasized that the Commission remains focused on developing the country’s sporting landscape despite the leadership transition.
