The battle for promotion in the Central Region Soccer League has taken a dramatic twist after allegations surfaced that Hardrock FC fielded an unregistered player under questionable circumstances.
Hardrock FC, who currently sit second on the league table with 60 points, are chasing leaders Sheasham FC who have 66 points. But their fight for promotion could be derailed following revelations that one of their players may have been registered under a false identity.
According to a source close to the matter, Hardrock allegedly fielded a player who was previously registered at Dulibadzimu United FC as Ephany Gwawawa, born on 6 July 2001. When he joined Hardrock, the player’s name reportedly changed to Tsiga Tanyaradzwa G., with his date of birth allegedly altered to 2007, classifying him as a developmental player.

The source claims the signing was done secretly and never officially announced on Hardrock’s platforms, unlike other mid-season signings which were publicised. The development has raised eyebrows among football followers, especially since the player’s transfer coincided with Dulibadzimu United’s head coach joining Hardrock as an assistant coach.
“ this player was never announced by Hardrock as a new signing,” said the source. “if Dulibadzimu cleared the player, why his name changed, and how he suddenly qualifies as a developmental player when he was registered as a 2001-born at his previous club.”
The alleged irregularities have sparked debate within the football fraternity, with many calling for the league authorities to investigate the matter and clarify whether proper transfer and registration procedures were followed.
Despite the controversy, law enforcement authorities are yet to act. ZRP Gwanda, who recently faced Hardrock in a league match where the player featured lodged a formal complaint but ZIFA Central region hasn't acted
