Robbers raid homestead, tuckshop, make off with cash, property

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has announced the arrest of Kudzai Makwesha, 37, and Jairos Chiyangwa, 44, in connection with two cases of robbery which occurred early morning on Thursday.

The robberies occurred at a homestead at Mushongahande Village and a tuckshop at Chamwa Village, where US$275 and ZWL$ 800 cash, groceries and property worth US$2 021.00 were stolen.

Police said the Chamwa Village tuckshop owner identified the suspects at Marymount Business Centre, leading to their arrest.

“The first complainant was shot with a pistol on the ankle and is admitted at a local hospital.

“Meanwhile, the other suspect, only identified as Tafadzwa, fled with the loot, in the suspects’ get-away vehicle, a Mazda Bongo, registration number AFB 5825,” police said on their official Twitter handle.

They added that investigations are underway to account for the escaped criminal.
