Pande rallies Warriors ahead of swansong WC qualifier

PROMINENT businessman and football fan, James Pande, believes Zimbabwe's gallant show against South Africa on Friday, will serve as a huge motivation in today's match against Lesotho.

The Warriors, who are yet to win a single match in Group C, complete their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign against the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa this evening.

Kick off is 6PM.

Zimbabwe go into this match on the back of a goalless draw against South Africa in Durban, a result that dented Bafana Bafana's chances of qualifying for the World Cup finals.

Pande is convinced the Warriors will have an edge over Lesotho, based on their show against South Africa.

"That performance against South Africa was gallant and it should be saluted.

"But, the Warriors now need to use that as a confidence booster for the match against Lesotho.

"Remember, we are yet to register a win in this Group, so it would be ideal to bow out in style by thumping Lesotho in Polokwane," said Pande, a renowned economic empowerment guru.

Zimbabwe anchor Group C with five points and are already out of contention for a place at next year's World Cup finals.

However, the Warriors are playing for pride and are hoping to avenge the reverse fixture defeat against Lesotho.

Zimbabwe lost 0-2 at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on June 7, 2024.

But, the Warriors will enjoy more support in Polokwane, which is home to thousands of Zimbabweans, given the town's proximity to the border.

"Zimbabweans based in Polokwane should pack Peter Mokaba Stadium and make life difficult for Lesotho.

"We might be out of the World Cup but pride is at stake.

"We need to prove that we are a force , especially now that we are going towards the AFCON finals," added Pande, who is also a staunch Dynamos supporter.

Zimbabwe have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations finals which will be held in Morocco in December and are also using today's match as preparation for the continental football showpiece.
