Police probe 2 Mat South murder cases

Police are investigating two murder cases that occurred in Matabeleland South Province on Monday.

According to a police tweet, the first case happened at Stella City Mine in Maphisa where a 24-year-old man Bheka Moyo was fatally attacked by six yet to be identified assailants while guarding gold ore at the mine.

“Police in Maphisa are investigating a case of murder which occurred on 02/01/23 at Stella City Mine, where Bheka Moyo, 24, was attacked to death, while safeguarding gold ore at the mine, by six unknown assailants,” police said, adding that Moyo’s body was found with a deep stab wound on the back.

In the second case, Livious Chauke, 17, died after he was struck on the head by a cement brick and pushed to the ground following an argument over an undisclosed issue at Dite Business Centre on Monday.

“Police in Beitbridge are investigating a murder case in which Livious Chauke, 17, died after he was hit by a cement brick on the head before being pushed to the ground by Justice Ndou, 21, following an argument over an undisclosed issue during New Year’s holiday celebrations at Dite Business Centre on 02/01/23.”

Police added that Ndou is on the run and appealed for information which may lead to his apprehension.
