Controversial freelance journalist-turned football administrator Morehope Chizuzu is at again seeking to cause mayhem in the upcoming Zifa Congress elections set for December.
Chizuzu simply known as Hope in the football circles has registered to contest the board member’s position in the Northern Region Soccer League election.
The polls, are a mandatory exercise that is in line with a FIFA directive given to Zifa in July 2023 when the global football federation appointed a Normalisation Committee.

Just days after submitting his nomination papers Chizuzu has sought to disrupt the same election, questions the ZIFA Electoral Committee’s authority to carry the polls.
He has petitioned the Sports and Recreation Commission to intervene.
Ten years ago he launched a similar application which fell flat at the High Court after Justice Joseph Musakwa dismissed his “hurriedly-prepared’’ bid for lack of urgency.
Only this time Chizuzu has avoided the High Court and took to the SRC, who ironically were part to the agreement with FIFA to ensure elections are held for all the Zifa structures, starting with the watershed January 25, 202 elections that ushered in the current Executive Committee.
In his application to SRC, which seems to lack some clarity, Chizuzu is also questioning the Zifa executive Committee’s authority to appoint an electoral committee, claiming the move is unconstitutional.
