Police Drone Blitz Fails to Flush Out Guruve Multiple Murder Suspect

The high-tech drone sweeps and ground patrol dragnet that turned the Guruve hills into a moving security zone have so far failed to flush out the suspect at the centre of two linked multiple murder investigations, with police revealing that possible mental health issues may be at play.

In a follow-up to its press statement dated December 15, 2025, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that the suspect in the Guruve murder incident remains at large, despite an intensive manhunt involving drone surveillance, canine units, horse patrols, intelligence teams and local community cooperation.

Police have now released the photograph of the wanted suspect, identifying him as Anymore Zvitsva, also known as Modho, aged 32, of Bangira Village, Mutsami Kraal, under Chief Chipuriro in Guruve.

The suspect is wanted in connection with the brutal killing of five members of one family at Ona Farm in Guruve on December 11, as well as a separate triple murder case in Zimuna Village under Chief Bepura, which police believe may be linked.

While security forces continue to comb the forested and mountainous areas around Guruve, police indicated in their latest communication that investigators are also considering the possibility of mental health challenges influencing the suspect’s actions and movements.

The disclosure adds a complex layer to an already disturbing case, as police balance public safety concerns with the unpredictable nature of a suspect who may not be operating rationally or within expected patterns of flight.
