
Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera, a Zimbabwean bussiness tycoon philanthropist and academia, has called for the need of AI-driven development in Zimbabwe, a move that speaks with government's broader efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into its national planning.
Prof Taruberekera recently attended a global show 2025 a premier international gathering for AI innovators and policy makers.
The event ran under the theme " AI 2031accelerating intelligent futures"
The event was held at Space 4 Arena Abhu Dhabi UAE in Dubai.
In an interview Prof Taruberekera said AI technology can help Zimbabwe achieve its vision 2030 goals especially in following areas.
Taruberekera said under agriculture AI can be used to predict rainfall and weather patterns , soil analysis and fertilizer recommendations can also be done such data is important to increase crop yields which is critical for food security.
"Al can help mordernise mining methods and help in surveying rich mineral veins, more importantly it can help in the refining and subsequent beneficiation , instead of exporting raw materials we will export finished products this will surely strethen the country economy, " said Taruberekera.
Taruberekera said AI can improve government efficiency .

Taruberekera called on Zim -government to scale up adoption of solar energy especially in rural schools with no access to national grid so that learners can access digital and AI tools thus bridging digital gap.
Further to that Taruberekera said there was need to develop AI that understands local languages
Taruberekera who is Craft Properties CEO , said he gained first-hand exposure to what he described as “the next industrial revolution.”
“It is my hope that reporting on my visit to the Global AI Show will not only change mindsets, but also trigger AI consciousness and uptake in both the public and private sector,”
“AI is no longer an extra. It is now the foundation a digital teammate, a proactive system capable of storing and analysing data at speed, supporting accurate decision-making across sectors such as property development, finance and engineering, " said Taruberekera .
As for Craft Properties he noted that AI can analyse optimal land acquisition timing, recommend cost-effective building materials and eliminate guesswork that often characterises traditional development models.
