The suspects — Kelvin Katuruza Chaora, 26, a 16-year-old juvenile, Chemika Gwenzi, 33, Bvumbe Mandeya, 35, and Ranwes Chaora, 58, — are facing murder charges in connection with the death of John Chimana Chaora, 54.

Police said the arrests followed a tip-off received on December 28, 2025, which linked the juvenile to the case after the victim had been reported missing. During investigations, the juvenile implicated Kelvin Chaora, Allicious Bvumbe, Chemika Gwenzi and Bvumbe Mandeya, leading to their arrest and the recovery of the victim’s cellphone and a pair of shoes.

On December 31, 2025, the suspects allegedly led police to the location of the body near Ambush Dam in Kazunga Village, Guruve. The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police said Kelvin Chaora later implicated Ranwes Chaora, alleging that he had masterminded the murder following a dispute over a chieftainship position that the victim was reportedly set to assume.

Investigations into the cases are ongoing.
