Mugeri-Tiripano Heads Zimbabwe Women Squad for T20 World Cup Qualifier

 

Zimbabwe Cricket has unveiled the Zimbabwe Women squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026, as the team sets its sights on a historic maiden appearance at the global showpiece.

The qualifiers get underway this weekend in Nepal, marking a defining moment in the growth of women’s cricket in the country.

The 10-team tournament will see Zimbabwe compete in Group B alongside the Netherlands, Scotland, Thailand and hosts Nepal. Following the group stage, the top three teams in each pool will advance to the Super Six phase, with the top four teams overall earning coveted qualification spots for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Their presence provides stability and depth as Zimbabwe prepare for the demanding conditions and high stakes of the qualification tournament.

The selectors have also shown faith in youth, including rising talents Kelis Ndhlovu and Beloved Biza, who form part of a promising core expected to play an influential role as the campaign unfolds.

Zimbabwe will begin their Group B campaign on Sunday, 18 January, against the Netherlands at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. They will then face Thailand on Tuesday, 20 January, at the Mulpani International Cricket Ground, before returning to Kirtipur for clashes against Scotland on Thursday, 22 January, and hosts Nepal on Saturday, 24 January.
