Three men have appeared in court facing allegations of defrauding a Harare car dealer of US$10 000 in a bogus farm sale.
Tsungayi Mazanhi, Fanuel Kawere and Chriswell Chingwaru are accused of duping Isaac Pedzisai Chisambira after allegedly misrepresenting that they were selling a farm in Mupandaguta, Banket.
According to court documents, Chisambira was introduced to Mazanhi in November 2025 by his friend Sanga Mutsunge while he was looking for land for farming purposes.
Mazanhi allegedly told Chisambira that he had a farm for sale and referred him to Kawere, whom he said knew the location of the property.
On November 11, 2025, Mazanhi reportedly met Chisambira in Bluffhill along Lomagundi Road, Harare, before taking him to Mapinga in Banket to meet Kawere.
The court heard that Kawere allegedly told Chisambira the land was being sold by the Ministry of Lands and took him to view the farm in Mupandaguta.

The trio allegedly later introduced Chisambira to Chingwaru, who purportedly posed as an employee of the Ministry of Lands and confirmed that he was selling Mupandaguta Farm.
Believing the transaction to be genuine, Chisambira paid a US$5 000 deposit to Chingwaru. An agreement of sale was subsequently prepared and signed by Kawere, Chingwaru and Chisambira.
The farm was allegedly valued at US$18 000, with the balance to be paid in instalments.
A week later, Chisambira reportedly paid a further US$5 000 as part payment. However, he later became suspicious and was advised to verify the authenticity of the property.
Upon approaching the Ministry of Lands offices in Murombedzi, he was allegedly informed that the farm was not registered in their system, prompting him to realise he had been defrauded.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the three accused.
They are expected to appear in court again on March 18 facing fraud charges.
Chisambira allegedly suffered a total loss of US$10 000, and nothing has been recovered to date.
