A tragic incident in Gwelutshena on April 6, 2025, has resulted in the loss of a young life.
The High Court Circuit sitting at Hwange has convicted Wellington Moyo, a relative of the victim, of murder and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
According to court proceedings, the incident occurred while the 17-year-old deceased, Gugulethu Moyo, and a witness were gathering logs to construct a granary at a homestead in Gwelutshena.

The court heard that Wellington Moyo approached the teenager from behind and stabbed him in the neck with a homemade knife commonly used for harvesting sunflowers.
The victim attempted to flee, running for approximately 50 metres before collapsing due to the severity of the wound.
The offender was seen pursuing the injured teenager while still holding the knife.
Gugulethu Moyo was later found unconscious with a deep neck wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
