Mahachi Crowned Highlanders Players’ Player of the Month

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s remarkable return to Highlanders continues to gather momentum after the experienced winger was crowned the Players’ Player of the Month for April, an award voted for by his teammates in recognition of his outstanding performances and leadership within the squad.

The gifted midfielder received a certificate and a US$500 cash prize sponsored by the Business Friends of Bosso (BFB), underlining the growing appreciation for his influence both on and off the pitch at the Bulawayo giants.

Mahachi’s latest accolade comes at a time when he is enjoying a resurgence at his boyhood club following his emotional return to Highlanders ahead of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. The former Warriors international has quickly become one of the team’s most influential figures, with his experience, creativity and attacking flair breathing new life into Bosso’s campaign.

Born in Bulawayo on September 29, 1993, Mahachi began his football journey in Highlanders’ junior structures before launching his senior career with Bantu Rovers and later Chicken Inn. His dazzling performances earned him a move to Highlanders in 2014 before South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns snapped him up the same year.

During his time in South Africa, Mahachi built a reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s most technically gifted wingers, turning out for top clubs including Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United. He also had a brief stint in Ghana with Medeama before returning home to play for Manica Diamonds.

Mahachi has also enjoyed an accomplished international career with the Zimbabwe national team, earning more than 40 caps for the Warriors and representing the country at major tournaments including the Africa Cup of Nations and the African Nations Championship.
