Mutasa Unmoved as MWOS Fans Demand His Exit

MWOS FC head coach Lloyd Mutasa says he remains focused on his work despite growing calls from sections of the club's supporters for him to step down following the team's poor run of results in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The Norton based side has endured a difficult spell, going several matches without collecting maximum points, a run that has frustrated fans who had become accustomed to seeing the team compete strongly.

They lost 2-0 to Dynamos on Sunday.

MWOS established themselves as one of the competitive sides during their time in the Northern Region Division One League before earning promotion to the top flight. In their debut Premier Soccer League season, the club impressed with consistent performances and drew significant attention, particularly in their clashes with Scottland, fixtures that attracted large crowds at a time when traditional giants Highlanders, Dynamos and CAPS United were struggling for form.

However, this season has been a different story, with supporters witnessing a level of performance they had not experienced since the club's rise to the Premier League.

While some fans had already been calling for Mutasa's departure, emotions escalated after Sunday's defeat to Dynamos. Supporters displayed posters inside the stadium demanding the coach's exit, with one reading, "Mutasa Must Peacefully Go."

Despite the growing pressure from the terraces, Mutasa insists the criticism will not distract him.

"I'm one of the guys who doesn't look much on supporters," said Mutasa when asked about the calls for him to leave the club.

The veteran coach said he has faced similar situations before and remains committed to the job.

"I even experienced it while the team was in Division One. Even last year I saw such an incident, so that doesn't even push me from focusing on what we are working on," he said.

As of now, 12 matches remainin for the end of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season while MWOS have managed six victories from 22 league games.
