A gang of six armed robbers got away with US$678 on January 30 after they attacked six households in Savanhu Village, Mayambara, Seke.

Police are currently hunting for the suspects.

One of the complainants, identified as Paul Marowanyanga, was shot in the thigh after trying to fight the robbers.

The complainant is reportedly recovering at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

The robbers broke Marowanyanga’s door demanding for cash.

Other families within the compound tried to assist Marowanyanga, but were scared away by two bullets that were shot in the air by the robbers before their houses were searched for money.

Five people were beaten during the robbery but were not seriously injured.

Police said the Mayambara robbery is worrisome as the value of money and ammunition used do not tally.

“This office is however following up on the case and will advise,” police added.

The matter was reported at Chitungwiza ZRP under RRB5440149. The docket has been transferred to ZRP Harare homicide.
