The National Gallery of Zimbabwe is on Wednesday hosting the Vernissage exhibition in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The exhibition is part of NGZ's permanent collection and part invitational, celebrating the achievements of women and women artists running under the theme “We are all human”.

NAGZ Lead Curator of Contemporary Art, Fadzai Muchemwa, said the artworks submitted by women artists for 2023 will be exhibited during the programme.

“The Vernissage is the official opening of the exhibition “We should all be human” and as the invitation indicates, the exhibition is in observance of International Women's Day.

“It is a celebration of the skills of women whilst calling for equity. Freedom from bias will lead to more efficiency and harmony,” she said.

At the beginning of the year, NAGZ invited the submission of new artworks for this year’s annual women's exhibition.

The artworks were required to embody the global theme of the International Women’s Day, “Embrace Equity” which also serves as a basis for the annual Women’s Exhibition.

The theme aims to focus on creating a fair and equal world for women and girls.
