A man from Magwegwe suburb in Bulawayo another man he had confronted over a US$7 debt was instead sodomised.

This emerged when Sipho Ndlovu, 28, appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza charged with sodomy.

Ndlovu pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to April 14 for trial.

The facts of the matter are that on December 22 last year and at around 9am, the victim went to Ndlovu’s house and demanded US$7 which he claimed he owed him.

Ndlovu reportedly invited him into his house where he led him into his bedroom. He locked the door and told him that he would give him his money if he complied with his orders.

He then ordered him to remove his pair of trousers and allegedly sodomised him once and gave him US$1, instructing him to collect the balance the following day.

The victim did not report the matter to anyone and on 16 January, Ndlovu approached the victim and asked him to tend his garden, promising to give him US$5.

While he was working, Ndlovu tried to molest him but he fought back and went to the police to file a report, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.

A medical report was produced in court as evidence.

Ndlovu denied the allegations, claiming instead that he was not sexually attracted to men.

“The complainant was drunk when he came to my house demanding his money.

“He should try to remember the culprit because l am ‘happily’ married and l have no interest in men,” said Ndlovu.
