A man from Mazowe was attacked with an axe handle and open hands by a 13-year-old girl’s mother and another man after he made the girl sit on his lap at a bar in the mining town.
James Makaza, 32, sustained injuries on the lips and forehead.
The matter emerged at the Concession Magistrates’ Courts when the girl’s mother, Zviitiko Kaurimbo, 39, and Spenser Manjira, 33, both from Hidden Valley Farm, Mazowe appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
The court heard that on January 1, Makaza was drinking beer at a bar in Mazowe when Kaurimbo’s 13-year-old daughter followed her to the bar.
Makaza called the girl and made her sit on his legs resulting in the girl’s mother interrogating Makaza on his actions.
He told her that her daughter had nowhere to sit other than his legs.
This angered the mother, who picked an axe handle and started assaulting Makaza before Manjira joined the fight and assaulted Makaza on the mouth.
Makaza was seriously injured as a result of the assault.
A police report was filed, leading to the two’s arrest.
The trial continues on April 20.
