Organisers of the annual cake exhibition scheduled for Damview in Chitungwiza tomorrow have said it is all systems go for the event, which will also incorporate a cake competition.
According to event coordinator, Mutsawashe Masvodza, the exhibition will see more that families can bring their children along with them as this is a family event.
She added that there are several categories under which the cakes will be judged
“There will be prizes for cake with the Best Texture, which basically will cover quality as in softness and moisture. There will also be the Best Cake Decoration which will cover frost, ice and cake art.
“We also have a prize for the Best Taste, where the judges are not really worried about the flavour but will look for quality of ingredients used and proportions, in short, balance.

The Best Symmetry and Bloom - geometry and shine will also be rewarded as these are also key in good cakes.
“The top prize will go to the cake with all these aspects, second prize to one who has missed one or two of these and so on until we get to the last one. Besides the cash prize, we also have medals for all the winners,” added Masvodza.
She said while they are still to finalise, the top prize will not be less than US$300.
Damview, which lies on the shores of the Prince Edward Dam near Chikwanha Shopping Centre, in Chitungwiza has proven to be a joint of choice for many who love outdoor entertainment where there is a spacious and very friendly environment one will never regret visiting.
Added Masvodza: “We are inviting all those who are into cakes to bring their stuff. We expect over 300 different cakes to be on show. There will also be cake slices for tasting and sale.”
She added that the event will provide an opportunity for people to have a look at the cakes on offer and place orders for their weddings and other special events.
Masvodza said they have spoken to a number of sponsors for the Easter Sunday event, which is expected to be bigger and better than previous editions.
