Man steals from people who had offered him a lift

A man who stole a cell phone after given a lift has appeared in court.

Earnest Taderera, 34, appeared before magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of theft.

The State, through Tinotenda Masimba, alleges that around 1000 hours on April 26, at the corner Robert Mugabe Road and Chinhoyi Street in Harare, Taderera unlawfully and with intent, stole an Itel P37 which was on the door panel of the car which had offered him a lift.

The cellphone, which is valued at US$100, was owned by one Dube Rabson.

Mashavakure granted Taderera ZWL$30 000 as bail and ordered him to appear in court on May 18 for routine remand.
