Transform Zimbabwe president, Jacob Ngarivhume was yesterday handed a prison sentence of 48 months of which 12 were suspended.

The sentence follows his conviction Thursday for the offence of inciting public violence after organising the July 31, 2020 anti-government protests. It is without option of a fine.

Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka presided over the matter.

Effectively, it means that he will not be able to contest the 2023 elections due in the next three or four months.
