The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency Consumer Price Index report for September shows that inflation continues to come down with food prices stabilizing faster than non-food items.
“The month-on-month Food and Non Alcoholic Beverages inflation rate stood at -0.1 percent in September 2022, shedding 10.6 percentage points on the August 2022 rate of 10.5 percent.
“The month-on-month non-food inflation rate stood at 4.7 percent, gaining 1.0 percentage points on the August 2022 rate of 3.7 percent. The blended CPI for the month ending September 2022 stood at 260.63 compared to 254.21 in August 2022 and 125.60 in September 2021,” the report reads.
Education has been flagged as the group with the highest inflation at 30 percent.
“The month-on-month inflation rate in September 2022 was 2.5 percent shedding 4.1 percentage points on the August 2022 rate of 6.6 percent.
The year-on-year inflation for the month of September 2022 stood at 107.5 percent.
Prices for most items have stabilised with some coming down especially for food items.
