Gilbert Mbavara, 39, of Glen View 2, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje charged with rape.
The complainant in this matter is a 14-year-old minor.
The court was informed through prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti that, in April 2023 at around 0800 hours, the complainant went to the shops to buy airtime and Mbavara greeted her and gave her a US$1.
After that, she gave him her phone number.

She went with Mbavara to his house where he locked the door and removed his clothes.
It is alleged that he then removed her pants and pushed her on the bed before having sex with her without her consent.
She went home and never told anyone.
On June 5, 2023 at around 1800 hours Mbavara called the complainant and met her at the gate.
He promised to give her US$50 and they went to his house and he locked the door.
He told her that he was going to give her the money after she had satisfied his desires.
At around 2200 hours she then agreed and they had consensual sex without protection.
The complainant then went and slept at the carpark.
At around 0400 hours Mbavara then took her to Goromonzi because she was afraid of her mother.
The case come to light when the complainant came back and told her mother that she had been raped by Mbavara.
