Jompano sacking from DeMbare: Details emerge

Sacked Dynamos head coach, Herbert Maruwa had promised the Harare giants the 2023 Castle Lager League title, Zim Now has learnt

The performance-based contract the former Black Rhinos coach signed with DeMbare, which is in the hands of Zim Now, reads:

“Performance target for winning the 2023 Castle Lager League Championship and as such this forms your fulcrum key performance output. Winning any knockout silverware during the season shall be considered as a credit towards your performance assessment,” reads part of the contract.

Currently, Dynamos sit on number four on the log table, trailing pace setters Highlanders, who are currently on 38 points from 18 matches, by 11 points.

His first disappointment was to lose the Independence Cup against Highlanders. He has been inconsistent for Dynamos and they gave him five more matches before the Hwange match which he got a draw. Before that he had won 5-0 against Yadah F.C.

The contract states that the Dynamos officials will be conducting periodic reviews as determined by the club.

It reads in part: “Periodic reviews will be conducted as determined by the club to keep track of the attainability or non-thereof of the key performance output.”

The contract sets out the head coach’s responsibilities as effectively coaching the team with the latest techniques in football, recruiting and maintaining the required player establishment, hiring, training and supervising players. He is also expected to ensure that players meet club eligibility requirements, complying with the eligibility requirements for recruiting of players and submit required documentation in a timely manner and completing accurate match reports in a timely manner.

It also states that he was supposed to be supervising players during practice and games to ensure that the highest standards of sportsmanship and integrity are maintained.

He was also supposed to be responsible in arranging for all club awards and representing the club in public presentations as needed, conducting outreach activities in the local community, attend clinics and workshops to achieve certification and /or keep skills current as approved by the club and co-ordination of the technical department’s special activities, manage and supervise the technical team, including the juniors.
