Two men, who robbed the complainant at her house after she disembarked from her car to close the gate, have appeared in court.
Musa Taj Abdul, 50, of Pakistan Crescent and Charles Lundu, 50 of Greenwood, Epworth, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with armed robbery.
The State alleges that on February 7, 2023, at around 1600 hours, the complainant in the matter, Tendai Victoria Chimutashu of Highlands arrived home driving an unregistered Toyota Fortuner.
After she had entered, as she was about to close her gate, the two who were with one Kudzaishe Mungazi, allegedly went to her armed with firearms.
They demanded money from her and robbed US$5 200 before escaping with their gateway car, a BMW without number plates.
Chimutashu quickly told her husband after their departure who immediately intercepted the three.
There was a high speed chase and the three fired shots to scare Chimutashu’s husband.
They later dumped their car in Milton Park where one of the accused’s girlfriend resided before escaping.
Chimutashu made a report at Highlands Police Station, leading to the arrest of the three.
Of the US$5 200 that was stolen, nothing was recovered.
The two will appear in court on September 6.
