Botswana wins AUSC junior darts championship

Botswana were crowned winners of the African Union Sports Confederation junior darts championships after amassing 158 points in Zambia this Friday.

Zimbabwe were runners up after being dislodged by Botswana who recorded 158 points from the overall medals tally.

Zimbabwe who were too good in the under-15 girls category managed 148 points and came up with two gold medals in the under fifteen girls competition.

Nondumiso Mpofu won the gold medal after defeating Zambian captain Sandra Kasebeleka in the under-15 girls category.

Giving his closing remarks at the eighth edition of the junior darts championships, AUSC President, Maynard Moyo heaped praises on the participants for fair play.

“Our tournament is gone but I would like to thank the participating teams, those who won and those who lost. For those with medals I would like to say congratulations and for those without medals, please do not despair. We want the sport to grow and we can realise that by joining Region V,” he said.

Hosts Zambia occupied the third slot with 118 points, while South Africa came fourth with 112 points.

Eswatini came fifth with 60 points.
