Mono Mukundu’s new album Monosophy, set to be launched on his birthday

Popular guitarist, Clive Mukundu, affectionately known as Mono Mukundu will celebrate his birthday in style this year as he is set to launch a new album on the day.

Mono, who is turning 53 on September 15, is a seasoned instrumentalist with over 35 years in the music industry.

His upcoming album, Monosophy, carries six tracks, Runako, Matsiuriro, Kunamata Vanhu, Chigumbu, Evidence and Kuzviroya.

“So, this month on Friday, September 15, 2023, on my 53rd birthday, l will release the album, Monosophy to mark the occasion,” he said.

The album will be launched at Alliance Francaise, in Harare.

In addition to performing songs from the Monosophy album, Mono will be joined by some of his arts industry colleagues to add flavour to the event.

He assured his fans that the album will get buyers on the day of release.

“The music will be available for sale on the day. Fear not, there will not be any of those shady unexpected auctions that exploit esteemed guests in order to fleece them of their money.

“Anyone who wants to pay more will do so at their own discretion without feeling pressured by the Mcee,” he said.

He urged fans to come in their numbers and enjoy themselves at the event whose admission fee is US$5.

Mono, who also owns Monolio Studios, boasts of having recorded over 1 000 albums in his musical journey and has worked with many established and upcoming artists such as the late national hero, Oliver Mtukudzi, Somandla Ndebele, the late Chiwoniso Maraire, Jah Prayzah, Tocky Vybes, Derek Mpofu, Alexio Kawara and Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave among others.

Mukundu, who also has a moniker, God’s Favourite Guitarist, was born in 1970, at Rusape General Hospital in Manicaland.
