Duo arrested for possessing jumbo tusks and pangolin scales

Tinotenda Muringayi, 29, and Doesmatter Chidhakwa, 26, were arrested on Friday after being found with two Elephant tusks and five Pangolin scales at Magunje Growth Point.

Police confirmed the arrest on X wall.

“On 17/11/23, detectives from CID Flora and Fauna acted on received information and arrested Tinotenda Muringayi (29) and Doesmatter Chidhakwa (26) for possession of two Elephant tusks and five Pangolin scales at Magunje Growth Point.”

The two were arrested while looking for potential buyers.

“Reference is made to the Cowdray Park murder case as reported on ZRP X wall posted on Thursday, the ZRP reports that Alfred Ngwenya, 24 was arrested on yesterday night at a shrine in Silobela where he was allegedly seeking cleansing after having committed the offence. Ngwenya’s arrest led to the recovery of the murder weapon, an AK47 CCCP flick knife,” police said.

Meanwhile in Chipinge, Tawanda Bright Majecha, 26, was arrested in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a house in Gaza E, Chipinge on Thursday in which his three-year-old daughter died while two other victims were injured when he allegedly locked the children in the house and set it ablaze after a domestic dispute.

 Two minors who were rescued by neighbours sustained some burns.

In a similar case, Gora Musaida     Echfell, 26, of Marondera is on the run after murdering his girlfriend Sharon Mushowo, 29, at the back of the head with a knife at a house in Nyameni, Marondera today at around 05:00 in the morning.

Police confirmed the case on X wall,

“Police in Marondera are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Gora Musaida Echfell, 26, who is being sought in connection with a murder case in which he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, Sharon Mushowo, 29, at the back of the head with a knife at a house in Nyameni, Marondera on18/11/23 around 0500 hours. Resultantly, the victim died.”

Echfell locked Mushowo in the house before he fled the scene.

Police in Harare are investigating a hit and run road traffic accident which occurred along Ardbenie Road, Mbare on Friday in which a Toyota Haice kombi registration number ABG 0405 hit a pedestrian near Waterfalls rank. The victim sustained some injuries on the leg and on the wrist. The driver did not stop after the accident.

In a similar case, Police in Bulawayo are investigating a hit-and-run road traffic accident, which occurred along Gogomaluphahla Road, Mzilikazi on Friday in which a female juvenile aged 5 years was hit by a white Honda Fit motor vehicle. The victim sustained some bruises on the chin and forehead. The motorist did not stop after the accident.
